Occupational Safety & Health is a highly comprehensive and intricate profession. It involves identifying workplace hazards, assessing the risks associated with job tasks, preparing for safety audits, reporting correct and accurate information to the Department of Labor or more specifically the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The objective of this program is to provide students and current safety managers skills required to perform at various levels within the safety management field. A student may receive credit for work experience, military experience, military schools and civilian education. Credits are awarded based on the American Council on Education ACE Guide. The degree requires a total of 64 credits, 15 of which must be completed with Barton.
Occupational Safety & Health Associate in Applied Science
The 1-year Certificate Program offers a shorter program to students looking to get into the career field of Occupational Safety & Health. Successful completion of the Certificate program requires a minimum of 18 credit hours.
The Occupational Safety & Health Industry Certificates (Specialist in Safety & Health) program provides the opportunity for students to gain the skills needed to perform the required duties with in the field of safety management.

Academic Advisors generally work by appointment, however they do accept walk-ins. New students seeking a preliminary degree plan to be written should bring to the appointment/walk-in copies of transcripts from prior colleges and universities, CLEP/DSST, AARTS, ERB, or DD-214 and certificates of all employer based training they want to be evaluated for credit.
